The Power of YOU!
Welcome back! I appreciate you and your support. You can still subscribe to my RSS Feed Thanks for visiting! Have an awesome day!

What can you do with this power? Everything! The power is within each and every one of us to bring about change in the world. You can
quiet the negative thoughts in your mind, you can embrace the positive. All it takes is a different point of view. Look for the good in every
situation, see beneath the surface.
Do you realize that 99% of your decisions are made by your programs? Ok, so what does this mean? When you were little, you thought everything and anything was possible. As you grew, people you knew started putting limits/controls on these thoughts. Don’t do this, don’t think that, this is the way you should be… Get the picture!
By the time you reach your teens, you have developed a set of beliefs based on all the experiences that have occurred in your life, both good and bad. These are your programs that you let decide how you’re going to react to life’s experiences.
You may have developed a belief that you don’t fit in or aren’t good enough because of a time when something was said or overheard. You gave this event a meaning, a meaning that you now use to describe who you are. It’s easy to get stuck in past experiences. It’s easy to dwell on the pain and hurt you felt at that time. Your world becomes colored with shades of grey.
The way you react now could be in direct correlation to your past experiences. Are you really living a productive life following these old beliefs? The good news is you can change this. It all boils down to choice.
Hmmm, how many times have you heard that? Still, it’s worth repeating over and over again. In every aspect of your life you DO have the choice, the choice of how you perceive any event that happens. What price are you paying for continuing to believe and live with this non-productive program? Where is it showing up in your life?
The key is to remember that it was an event, nothing more, nothing less. YOU attach a meaning to the event based on your perceptions, your beliefs. This does not negate the fact that bad things do happen. Not at all. There is no way to control outside events. What you DO have control over is your reaction. Stop taking the blame for what you could not control.
A little exercise to assist you in changing this non-productive belief :
- Write down what happened and how it made you feel. Just let the words flow.
- Now, take a deep breath in…deep breath out… Ahhhhh, good.
- Take those negative thoughts and write them down in an empowering manner on another piece of paper.
- Change the words to I am worthy of…, I am a great person because.., I am ok with…
- Take the paper with the negative thoughts and burn it or rip it up in pieces and throw it away! Wipe those thoughts out of your head and heart.
- Re-read the empowering statements again and again until you can feel the truth of them in your heart.
Get the idea of where I’m going with this?
These positive words empower you to feel great about yourself again. Doesn’t it make you feel better just writing that down?! Yes, it may feel silly or weird and your inner voice is saying you’re wrong, go back to the old way of thinking, but please, please, please don’t let that old voice win out!
It’s a matter of understanding the lesson in each situation. It’s using that lesson to move yourself forward instead of digging a hole and hiding away. Building a shell to protect yourself also confines and restricts you. The capacity for growth is stopped.
Explore these emotionally charged events, find ways to be at peace with them. Understand that these were circumstances you had no control over. Embrace the good that is within you. It’s there, let it all shine through. Do you know why? Because you have the wonderful gift that is YOU to share with the world!
I look forward to meeting you, to learn and share with you, to call you friend. Can you feel the excitement? I can!
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you and would love to hear from you.

Love the writing prompts you share here! Writing is such a powerful tool and in today’s plugged in world, fewer and fewer people are using pen/pencil and paper but instead, going straight to the keyboard. Call me old-fashioned, but typing and writing by hand are NOT the same thing, nor are the results the same, IMHO. (I am sure someone would argue with me about that.)
There is just something about releasing our thoughts and emotions through words that has a powerful effect on our attitudes. Terrific post, Val!

I agree that writing it down on paper “sets” it in your mind. Get’s it out of your head in releases the energy associated with it.
Have a great day Mary Lou,

Great Post, Val! I’m working through some beliefs right now. Not necessarily painful ones, but the ones that I’ve been thinking are “just me” but they aren’t serving me at all. Being “just me” is whatever I choose it to be. Such an empowering position to take!

Writing negative things down and burning or throwing them away really does work! It is too bad that we are programmed by all the negative ideas of the world, but it is good to know we can change it if we choose. Great Post

Glyna,
The first time I wrote things down, I did feel weird, but the amazing thing was how liberated I felt after doing it! It really is about writing your own story your way. It’s not changing the story, it’s changing your perception of the event.
I love it!,

Val, great post! You are so right that the baggage we carry holds us back from all we want coming to fruition! I love the suggestions you give on finding out where the programing came from and letting it go! There is much to be said about how the brain works when it transfers its thoughts to the pen and then actually writes them on paper.
Thanks for sharing such great info with everyone!

Yes. How we live our lives and what happens in our lives are our choices to make. This is tough to consider at many times because it is much easier to put the blame elsewhere. Changing perceptions & beleifs that we already have is difficult, and the writing exercise you gave is a good one. Physically writing things down helps with the emotional thought process. Thanks Val. Keep up the good posts!

Don Enck just did a post similar to this. The emotional issues that we have tied to things in the past and our clutter.
I could definitely build a bon-fire and get rid of a bunch of old clutter.

This is one reason I really enjoy technology. You can just pound out those negative thoughts and feelings in a Word document…highlight them and click DELETE and they are GONE!!! Using this technique as a visual of erasing those thoughts from our minds can be an awesome practice, I use it when needed. Also, maintaining the proper perspective is crucial to keeping our mindset open to the good things trying to find their way into our life. Keep bringing the great value that you are bringing here.
Appreciate all you do,

Thanks Krista,
I’ve used paper & pen and at other times a word doc. You can rephrase and adjust your thoughts easier on the computer. Then when I get all the “stuff” out, like you said, DELETE!!!
Whichever works at the time is great to unclog the old brain cells.

Great post about YOU. I love how your sharing with people on how to break free from their bondage. Most people don’t understand that what is happening to them is mostly made up of their own decisions.
Our decisions on what others think, and wheat others say, has a huge impact on our own beliefs and actions if we’re not living in our own power.
Don’t let people rob you of your power. Take charge and break the bondage!

Everyone has old programs that don’t serve them. Many just don’t see them for what they are. We’re moving ourselves forward by recognizing these issues and addressing them.
Let me know how re-writing them works for you!

I spent quite some time learning how to undo what was done. Its all in the mindset.
We are all products of what we ‘think’, and we do have a ‘choice’ to think negatively or positively. The sad part is that most people don’t realise this.
People need to mind their minds. They must learn to press the ‘delete’ key in their brains and reprogram their thoughts…then watch how their world starts to change.
Love the post!! Keep sharing the good word!

Powerful post! As a writer I can attest to the power of words. Writing things down makes them so much more real as opposed to just thinking them. Writing is a way of taking action. Amazing things begin to happen once we decide to step into our greatness and take action. Thank you for sharing this Val.

I was taught to envision all of the bad stuff, the old garbage, as if it was broken glass in my hand. The longer I held onto it, the tighter I squeezed, the more harm I did to myself. It hurt me alone, no other. I had to learn to open my hand, to drop the broken glass and to heal.
Now this is a visualization process in lieu of the physical writing but it did work.
Great post!
